Why is it, do you ever wonder, that there is such an ideal as a murder of crows? Zevran has observed them in flight and on the cobblestones. They are keen, quick-witted and greedy creatures. They are opportunists blessed with the scope and span of their own wings. They have sharp beaks and talons and dark, beaded eyes that, perhaps—though he is very young when he makes this supposition—reflect only the mood of the beholder.

Only what is seen. Only what one wishes to see.  

Beauty, or cruelty, or wickedness in their eyes. And so written into poems as the black bird; the black heart. The murder of crows.

They have their little nests, their little eggs. All break the shells, a fragile house for unready creatures. Some are found beneath the branches or bowers, having attempted first flight too soon, too soon. (Though he is still very young when he mourns their small bodies flattened by their dreams, as though they have been crushed by the very ability to see the sky.)

A murder of crows.

They sharpen their blades, and call them their talons. They bare their teeth, and call them beaks. They take out their poisons and say that a bird’s dark, beaded eye is poison itself. See how they watch you from the rooftops, their shadowed eaves in the shadowed evening; see how their shadows pass with portent overhead?

And if you shiver, know this: that a crow is walking over your grave. That a Crow, even now, may be plotting it.

Zevran takes these tattoos. Black, sleek, wing-like shapes at the contours of his cheeks and ribs. Soon, there are also scars like crow’s feet, thin and spider-webbed, across his skin and ink. He murders. He is a Crow. The poets and the bards compose and sing, respectively, but never quite respectfully. They compare the assassins to the birds and seek reason in their dark and beaded eyes.

As though some are born to take flight.

As though others, inside the hard shell of the egg, wake only to be crushed by the sky.

Blame the crows—for the Crows send their regards.

I recently finished Dragon Age: Asunder, and it was amazing. Evangeline stole my heart like I thought no templar ever could, so I decided I had to draw up my vision of her.

If Avexis became a Warden, would she be able to control darkspawn?  Since she can already control dragons via drinking their blood in Fennic’s ritual, if she became a Warden, could she control THE ARCHDEMON?

I liked Avexis’ unusual power, and the possibilities presented by her character in DotS, but I couldn’t help thinking at the end of the movie that the Templars would kill her, simply because she’s too powerful and dangerous to be allowed to live.

The thing I always wondered about Avexis was if her power was really something unique to her or if it was some strange form of blood magic. I mean, we know blood magic allows you to control other’s minds and even make them into your “puppets” if you’re good enough at it. Isn’t Avexis’s power all about the blood? The strange part of it is that she can consume other’s blood instead of using her own. I think that makes it more dangerous yes, but I don’t know if the Templars would really make that distinction. Blood magic is blood magic after all right?

To theorycraft your question.. hmmm… Since consuming the darkspawn blood allows a piece of the Archdemon and corruption into the person then I think it would be more a feedback loop instead of one being able to control another. Like Avexis might not be able to control the Archdemon, but she might not suffer from the nightmares or be able to block them out more quickly because she might be able to control (at least in part) where they are coming from. I think the best you can hope for is perhaps Avexis could be able to locate or sense the darkspawn or archdemon even more than other wardens. She might be able to manipulate the “darkness” inside to allow her to fit in with the darkspawn or not be recognized by them (like the ones who drink the blood). However, I think because the Archdemon can control the darkspawn and also can effect the thoughts and minds of the wardens I doubt she could fully control the Archdemon without him fighting back and effecting her as well.

Just my 2 cents. Scary thought though if she becomes a Warden and the Archdemon somehow learns how to access that feedback loop and get in her mind, or visa versa.

Isabela fought me every step of the way, saucy little minx that she is, and I’ll probably end up redoing her later on in the modern!AU series bluuuugh.

I wanted to incorporate her trademark bandanas somehow but my hand would not cooperate so I theorize that my hand and Isabela were in cahoots somehow SIGH.

I have to add to this. When I was playing DA:O I just couldn’t get into the side-quests. I couldn’t bring myself to care about these little people and their little pwoblems when the blight was here, and the whole world was about to go to hell. I just wanted my army, and did what I had to do to get it. The side quests completely did not interest me because there were bigger issues going on in the world that I had to take care of. I was more annoyed with having to do all the zones and their side quests than I really was curious.

See, I told you guys I would put up something sketchy or wordy soon. Going back to work and so did these to unwind from an eventful weekend. Fenris is good like that. Helps me get my mind off things.

so… here’s a quick Anders sketch before anything might happen that makes me feel less like drawing him since i have yet to complete the game. i’m starting to guess something’s up though since he’s asked my hawke to literally dig up shit for him and all. But!! don’t tell me!! ; u ; It’s always the mages that get to me orzz

I’m always nervous about coloring things. I never an quite as confident as I am with the lineart. 

Anyway, this one was an interesting task. I just picked up Paint Tool SAI and was learning as I went. Let me say, this program is VERY impressive. 

I used an under painting technique for this. The under painting being gold/navy and layered the colors over the top. I found some places, particularly the underarm are to be far to dark and used the tattoos as a bit of a light source.
